What we collect when you use this website or get in touch, why we need it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

The short version
- We only collect what you send us, and we use it to reply to you and do the work you ask for.
- This website doesn’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- We never sell your details or add you to a mailing list without asking.
Who we are
This website is run by Make Human Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13287957). Our registered office is 128 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX.
We are the data controller for the personal information described here. If you have a question about your data, email damian@makehuman.design.
What we collect and why
When you ask for a video walkthrough
The form asks for your website address, an optional note about what’s bothering you, and your email address. We use these to review your website, send you the walkthrough and reply to any follow-up. The form is handled by Formspree, which passes your message to us by email.
When you email us
We keep your email, your name and anything else you choose to include, so we can reply and keep a record of our conversation. Our email runs on Google Workspace.
When you book a call
The “Book a call” buttons take you to Calendly, where you choose a time and give your name and email address. Calendly shares these with us so we can hold the call. Calendly’s own privacy policy covers what happens on their site.
When you become a client
If we work together, we keep contact details, project records and invoices so we can do the work, get paid and meet our legal and tax obligations.
When you visit the website
Like any website, our hosting provider, Hostinger, keeps short-term server logs that include IP addresses. These are used to keep the site secure and working. We don’t use them to identify you.
Our lawful basis
Under UK data protection law we need a reason to use your information. For enquiries, walkthroughs and calls, it’s our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us about our services. For client work, it’s to carry out our contract with you. For invoices and accounting records, it’s a legal obligation.
If we ever want to send you anything you haven’t asked for, such as a newsletter, we’ll ask for your consent first. You can withdraw it at any time.
Cookies
This website doesn’t set analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there’s no cookie banner. If that changes, we’ll update this page and ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies.
Calendly sets its own cookies when you visit their site to book a call.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with the services we use to run the business:
- Formspree receives walkthrough requests sent through the website form.
- Google Workspace provides our email and file storage.
- Calendly manages call bookings.
- Hostinger hosts this website.
- Our accountant sees invoices and financial records for clients.
If you become a client, people who work with us on your project, such as our researchers and designers, may see the details they need to do that work. We don’t sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where your information leaves the UK, we rely on the safeguards the provider has in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK-US data bridge.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and walkthrough requests that don’t lead to work: up to 12 months after we last spoke.
- Client project records: for the length of the project and up to two years afterwards, in case you come back to us.
- Invoices and accounting records: six years, because the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that’s wrong
- delete your information, where we don’t need to keep it for legal reasons
- stop or limit how we use it
- send it to you or another organisation in a portable format
Email damian@makehuman.design and we’ll reply within one month. There’s no charge.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if anything changes, and the date at the top will show when that happened.
